Flights suspended due to poor runway conditions at GA. Kooddoo airport have resumed Tuesday.
According to officials, the national airline, Maldivian, cancelled flights after two aircraft encountered engine issues caused by rocks and potholes on the damaged runway.
The suspension of flights followed an audit by the Civil Aviation Authority, which revealed a lack of maintenance on the runway. Although the audit findings called for immediate action, the transport ministry stated that repairs were delayed due to the impact on public and tourist travel.
The runway has now been repaired by Pristine Island Investment, the operator of the airport.
