Parcels ordered from the Chinese e-commerce platform Temu have arrived in the Maldives, but delivery delays have been reported by customers. The service provider, CPEX Maldives, has stated that delivery times are expected to improve starting this week.

Temu, a relatively new online marketplace in the country, has seen a rise in customer complaints regarding late deliveries. According to CPEX Maldives, the surge in orders caused by a sudden increase in demand has contributed to the delays.

CPEX clarified that when customers receive a message indicating that their parcel has arrived at the pick-up point, it means the item has reached the post office. Due to limited space, parcels are currently being stored in lockers and on counters.

Despite the delay, CPEX stated that the time taken to issue postal notifications should not exceed five days. The company said it expects to provide estimated delivery times once the current backlog is addressed.

"The existing backlog is decreasing, and packages will be available more quickly from this week," CPEX said in a statement.

The company urged customers to wait for the official SMS notification from the postal service before attempting to collect their parcels.

It was noted that during the early stages of operations, some customers received their parcels within a week. However, as demand increased, delivery times extended to nearly a month. Social media users have expressed concern that orders placed for Eid may not arrive in time.

In response to the situation, the postal service has announced the recruitment of additional staff to handle the increased volume of deliveries.
