President Mohamed Muizzu on Saturday announced that a dollar ATM will be installed in V. Keyodhoo before March 2026.
Speaking during a visit to the island as part of his tour of Vaavu Atoll, the President said the move is intended to support local tourism in Keyodhoo, where several guesthouses operate.
“I also assure the guesthouses already involved in the sector that a dollar ATM will be installed in the island in the coming days, early next year, before March to further promote local tourism in the town,” he said.
The President also pledged to include additional land for Keyodhoo in next year’s budget to allow for expansion of the guesthouse business.
The Bank of Maldives has been installing dollar ATMs on larger islands and in locations where guesthouse tourism is expanding. The government has also been extending ATM services to islands without existing facilities.
