Tender opened for tourism development in Farumuli
The island was separated from Maafaru in July last year following a decision by the government to allocate the island for tourism development.

The tender for the development of tourism in Farumuli, an island located in the lagoon of Noonu Atoll Maafaru, was opened on Wednesday.
Farumuli was under the administrative jurisdiction of Maafaru until 2024. The island was separated from Maafaru in July last year following a decision by the government to allocate the island for tourism development.
A resolution issued by President Mohamed Muizzu confirmed that Farumuli was removed from the jurisdiction of Maafaru to facilitate plans for the development of a tourist resort.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Tourism announced the opening of the tender for the development and operation of a tourist resort on the island.
Interested parties are invited to attend information sessions scheduled for 16 March and 3 April. Bid submissions must be made by 10:00 am on 1 April.
As part of the tender requirements, bidders must submit a bank guarantee of MVR 50,000.
