State dollar revenue rises to $119 million in June

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) collected USD 119 million in state revenue last month, marking an increase compared with the same period last year.
According to MIRA's latest revenue statistics, dollar-denominated revenue rose by USD 922,114 from June last year, when the authority collected USD 117 million.
MIRA has collected a total of USD 868 million so far this year, an increase of USD 77 million compared with the corresponding period in 2025.
The increase in foreign currency revenue comes as the Maldives continues to face pressure on foreign exchange availability. The country has experienced rising external debt repayment obligations alongside slower growth in the tourism sector, contributing to increased demand for US dollars. The market exchange rate currently stands at around MVR 21 per US dollar.
MIRA also reported that total state revenue collected in June amounted to MVR 2.9 billion.
The authority said revenue for the month exceeded projections by 14 per cent and was 10 per cent higher than the amount collected during the same period last year.
