Vessel owners given 7 days to clear Thilafushi lagoon for port development
According to the corporation, the area to be cleared is located in the western section of the central lagoon at Thilafushi.

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has instructed vessel owners to remove all vessels from a section of the Thilafushi lagoon to facilitate construction of the new Malé Commercial Port.
President Mohamed Muizzu has previously announced that operations at the Malé Commercial Port will be relocated to Thilafushi by 11 November next year.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, HDC directed the owners of all moored, abandoned and sunken vessels to clear the designated area of the lagoon ahead of the port development project.
According to the corporation, the area to be cleared is located in the western section of the central lagoon at Thilafushi.
HDC has given owners seven days from Wednesday to remove their vessels. During this period, owners may contact the corporation to coordinate the removal process.
The corporation said that if vessels are not removed within the specified period, action will be taken in accordance with its established procedures.
