Shiuree resigns as Visit Maldives Managing Director

Ibrahim Shiuree has resigned as Managing Director of Visit Maldives, the state-owned company responsible for promoting the Maldives as a tourism destination.

Visit Maldives was previously known as the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
Shiuree is the second Managing Director appointed to lead the tourism promotion body under the administration of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
His resignation comes as Visit Maldives prepares for its upcoming Visit Maldives Year campaign.
The company has recently faced public criticism over the “Islanders Are Us” slogan selected as the theme for the campaign.
Visit Maldives is responsible for promoting the Maldives in international tourism markets, including through marketing campaigns, trade fairs, roadshows and partnerships with tourism businesses and international organisations.
