Beond's first aircraft arrives in Maldives; inaugural flight in Nov

Beond will add three more destinations by the end of March and three more by early summer next year, CEO Tero Taskila said on Monday.

The first aircraft of Beond, a startup airline billed as the world's first luxury leisure airline, arrived in Maldives on Monday.

Beond's first flight landed at Velana International Airport at 12:30 pm on Monday. According to flight movement tracking websites, the plane came from Hyderabad, India.

Beond's first flight was greeted with a water salute on the runway.

Beond, a joint venture between Maldives' Simdi Group and Dubai-based Arabesque, is positioned as the world's first high-end leisure airline.

Beond is scheduled to start flight operations in November and is now open for bookings through the Beond website.

Beond’s first destinations are:

    Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

    Zurich, Switzerland

  • 3-

    Munich, Germany

Beond has three options for booking tickets.

    Bliss

  • 3-

    Opulence

Beond will add three more destinations by the end of March and three more by early summer next year, CEO Tero Taskila said on Monday.

Tero said booking for the new destinations will open later this month.

"At the moment, bookings are only open through the website. A mobile application is also being developed," he said.

"We are already working with a lot of travel agents around the world to sell tickets. In recent weeks it [ticket sales] has been successful”.

Tero said with the arrival of a second aircraft, added destinations will be:

  • Bangkok, Thailand

  • Dubai, United Arab Emirates

  • Milan, Italy

With the arrival of a third aircraft, added destinations will be:

  • Shanghai and Beijing, China

  • Another European destination

Beond

  • The flights will be operated by the A-320 family

  • The first aircraft will have 44 seats (in all-premium configuration)

  • Interior will be spacious, with premium comfort seats

  • Over the next five years, the fleet will be expanded and the number of destinations will be increased
