'Revolutionary' economic policies will double revenue, pres says

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that despite COVID-19, this administration has brought revolutionary economic policies which will double the state's earnings in the future.
He made this remark while delivering his Republic Day address Saturday morning.
In his address to the nation, President Solih highlighted the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak during his presidency and the economic suffering it brought the whole world.
He commented on the government's unwavering efforts to ensure the fulfilment of essential needs for the people, and development projects continuing unabated throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
He additionally noted that the Maldives was one of the first countries to fully vaccinate its whole population, in addition to being among the first to open its borders.

Articulating that the fisheries industry is one of the country's vital economic sectors, the President noted the previous lack of focus on developing a sustainable fishing industry and underlined that this administration made significant investments in the fisheries sector.
