Ibrahim Shiuree, Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), has advised the public to be cautious of scam links circulating in his name.
The fraudulent posts include screenshots of Shiuree appearing in an interview on a local newspaper website, with misleading headlines.
In a statement on Facebook on Friday, Shiuree said that while the posts initially did not appear concerning, he has since received reports that many people have been misled by them.
"This is a fraudulent attempt to promote a trading platform using my photo as clickbait. I urge the public to be cautious about such posts and to verify the authenticity of any information from reliable sources before believing or sharing it," he stated.
