
Govt to support Maldivian students in Pakistan amid tensions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it will provide assistance to Maldivian students in Pakistan if the security situation deteriorates further due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

According to the statement, the Ministry, along with the Maldivian High Commission in Pakistan, is closely monitoring the situation. Authorities in the Maldives have stated they are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of Maldivians currently in Pakistan.
“If the situation in Pakistan worsens, we assure that assistance will be provided to Maldivian citizens in the country,” the statement read.
The Ministry cited information received from the Maldivian High Commission in Islamabad, noting that educational institutions and official offices in Pakistan continue to operate under normal conditions.
The Ministry has also advised all Maldivian nationals residing in or travelling to Pakistan to prioritise personal safety and to follow the guidance of local authorities and the Maldivian High Commission.
