Parliamentary committee closes ACC meeting

The Parliament’s Finance Committee held a closed-door meeting on Wednesday at the request of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The meeting, which began at 10 a.m., was convened to discuss the challenges faced by the ACC in completing its work. Following the arrival of the ACC members at the committee, the decision was made to conduct the session in private.

Committee Vice Chair, Eydhafushi MP Mohamed Saleem called for a vote to close the meeting after the ACC members were brought in. He did not provide a specific reason for the decision.

The motion to hold the session in secret was proposed by Kelaa MP Ibrahim Shareef and supported by Henveiru North MP Ahmed Aifan. The committee voted unanimously to proceed in private among the members present.
