A Spanish national who was deported from the Maldives for alleged financial misconduct is reported to be continuing to send tourists to the country under the name of the company from which she was dismissed.

Ana Hernández Sarria, a Spanish citizen formerly employed by Entre Azules, was deported from the Maldives in 2024. The company operates excursion services in K. Maafushi. Authorities have issued a 10-year ban on her re-entry under the Immigration Act.

Letter from Maldives Immigration confirms the deportation.

According to the company, Sarria was deported for allegedly embezzling significant sums of money from the business. The funds were reportedly transferred abroad.

In addition, she is accused of attempting to remove property from a guesthouse rented by the company by turning off CCTV surveillance before transferring a large number of goods onto a lorry. The incident was reported to Maafushi Police Station and remains under investigation.

Despite her deportation, Entre Azules says that Sarria continues to promote tourism to the Maldives using the company’s name. In response, the company has issued a public advisory urging tourists and international social media influencers to exercise caution when engaging with Sarria or any services offered under her name.

The company has stated that it intends to pursue legal action against any individuals or influencers who promote its brand in association with Sarria without authorisation.
