President Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents of B. Maalhos that the government will fulfil all promises made to the island during the last presidential election, with several projects set to begin this year.
Speaking during his visit to Baa Atoll, the President said that many of the pledges made to Maalhos would be prioritised, with the port project at the top of the list. He said work to resolve harbour-related issues will be expedited, and additional work, including relocating the power plant to newly reclaimed land by the port, will also proceed.
Other development plans announced include:

Expansion of the football field, with work already underway

Construction of a youth centre and an outdoor gym this year

A permanent solution to flooding on island roads

Commencement of work on the police station, with similar projects planned for all inhabited islands by year-end

Upgrading the health centre

Construction of a mosque with a capacity for 500 people

Road construction and expansion of school facilities to begin next year
The President said the government is committed to addressing the development needs of Maalhos in line with the wishes of its residents.
“I have given high priority to all the development needs of Maalhos and the government will be with the people to do what they want,” he said, adding that he hopes to see significant progress before his next visit.
