Another employee of the National Drug Agency (NDA) has been arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences.

Police confirmed the arrest of Ismail Abdulla, 42, of GDh. Gadhdhoo.

He was brought before the court on Monday and remanded in custody for five days after informing the court that he required legal counsel.

According to police, officers recovered a cellophane packet suspected to contain drugs after picking up an item he had dropped. His urine sample tested positive for THC.

In court, his defence did not admit or deny the allegation. He informed the court that he works at the NDA and is a father of young children.

The arrest follows the detention of another NDA peer mentor who is accused of supplying drugs to patients under the agency’s care.
