Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has launched an investigation into unusually high water bills reported by residents of flats built under the Amaan Udhares housing project. The corporation has asked affected residents to submit complaints for review.
Residents of some towers constructed by FDC in the second phase of Hulhumalé reported that their water bills for the past month exceeded MVR 7,000. The flats were handed over to recipients in September.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, FDC said it had received reports from residents of several units regarding unexpectedly high bills. The corporation said it is working with relevant authorities to determine the cause and identify a solution.
“We are now working with the relevant authorities to identify the root cause of this and find a solution,” the corporation said in a post on social media.
FDC has requested residents who identify discrepancies in their water bills to contact the corporation via its hotline or email:

Hotline: 3345500

An FDC official told Atoll Times that the flats were handed over after checking water and electricity meters. He said the corporation is examining billing timelines to determine when the issue began.
