Fire at Hulhumalé warehouse leaves 21 in temporary shelter

The electrical panel of the building was damaged, resulting in a loss of electricity supply to the premises.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has provided temporary shelter and meals to 21 people following a fire at a warehouse in Hulhumalé Phase I early on Sunday.

The fire broke out in garbage located outside a warehouse in Hulhumalé Phase I during the early hours of Sunday. Authorities said the incident caused damage to goods stored inside the warehouse and to the building.

In a statement, the NDMA said the fire occurred at a six-storey building on Chanbeyli Magu. The electrical panel of the building was damaged, resulting in a loss of electricity supply to the premises.

The Maldives National Defence Force said no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
