Moosa Ali Jaleel, contesting for the Male’ mayoral seat on the ticket of the People's National Congress(PNC), said on Wednesday that he will deliver the results sought by residents of Male’ through diligence and sincerity if elected.

Jaleel said that Maldives is undergoing structural development under a master plan, including dredging in the Male’ area. He said these works would change the city’s geography.

He said past experience shows that government efforts have faced challenges in producing results due to limited cooperation from the Male’ Council.

According to Jaleel, councils should work closely with government decisions and plans. He said the mayor holds responsibility for the council and must consider public concerns ahead of personal views. He added that, if elected, he would work with the government and President Mohamed Muizzu to address the needs of Male’ residents.

Jaleel said he had served the country during a period when its independence was under threat.

“I have not been driven by position. My approach is diligence. I place the country and the people first. I have always served the country, peace and security,” he said.

He added that he would work with the government to address housing, road issues and matters related to foreigners.

“I will act and implement plans. I will continue to uphold principles,” he said.
