A resolution submitted to the People’s Majlis seeking the removal of Deputy Speaker Ahmed Nazim states that he misused his position to advance political interests and encouraged actions that undermined parliamentary order.

The no-confidence motion was submitted to Parliament on Thursday following a meeting of the parliamentary group of the People's National Congress on Wednesday.

The motion was backed by the signatures of 73 members of the ruling party’s parliamentary group.

According to the resolution, Nazim repeatedly acted in ways that caused division within Parliament and disrupted the functioning of the legislative body.

The motion alleges that Nazim used the influence of his office for undue advantage, incited conflict, and acted with bias in a manner that compromised parliamentary procedure.

It further accuses him of demonstrating political prejudice during parliamentary proceedings, encouraging disorder, and failing to fulfil the responsibilities of his office.

The resolution also states that Nazim showed partiality in carrying out his duties as Deputy Speaker and failed to protect the rights and privileges of all members of Parliament.

In addition, the motion claims he obstructed members in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.

While the resolution accuses Nazim of supporting a particular political ideology, it does not specify the nature of the alleged affiliation.

The move to remove Nazim comes amid reports that he left for Malaysia late Wednesday night.
