Aasandha suspends new referrals to India's Amrita Hospital as agreement expires
Zeeniya said patients already receiving treatment at the hospital will continue to receive Aasandha coverage.
Aasandha has temporarily stopped referring new patients to Amrita Hospital in Kochi, India, following the expiry of its agreement with the medical facility.
Amrita Hospital is one of the hospitals used by Maldivians seeking treatment overseas.
Aasandha Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya confirmed on Tuesday that the suspension applies only to new referrals and that patients already receiving treatment at the hospital will continue to receive Aasandha coverage.
"The agreement renewal process is currently underway. We have temporarily stopped sending new patients for the time being. However, patients who are already receiving treatment at the facility will still get coverage through Aasandha," she said.
Zeeniya said Aasandha is reviewing the hospital's pricing and service rates as part of the renewal process.
She did not provide a timeline for completing the review, renewing the agreement or resuming referrals for new patients.
