Physical construction has begun on a project to build 50 housing units in AA. Ukulhas.
President Mohamed Muizzu attended a ceremony on Wednesday to mark the commencement of the project.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib, senior officials from the ministry and Ibrahim Azeem, Manager of the contractor, Altec Maldives.
The contract for the housing project was awarded to Altec Maldives on 6 November 2025.
Under the agreement, the project is to be completed within 600 days.
The development includes the construction of 50 three-bedroom housing units on the island.
