American arrested after ammunition found in luggage

An American citizen who arrived in the Maldives on Monday has been arrested after ammunition was found in his luggage, police said on Tuesday.
Police identified the man as 36-year-old Coboll Britain Tyler.

Tyler was arrested under a court order in connection with the case.
Police said he was presented before a court for a remand hearing on Tuesday. The court ordered him to be held in custody for 10 days while the case is investigated.
Police have not disclosed the number or type of bullets found or provided further information on the circumstances surrounding the case.
A foreign national was also arrested last year after ammunition was found in their possession while attempting to depart from Velana International Airport.
Police did not disclose the identity of the individual involved in that case.
