Jumhooree Party (JP) on Friday handed over the responsibilities of its election campaign for the September 9 presidential election to its deputy leader Ameen Ibrahim.
Gasim handed over these responsibilities to Ameen, who had been with the party for a long time.
According to the Jumhooree Party:
-
Ameen will plan the election campaign and carry out related works
-
He also appealed to the party members to cooperate with him in this endeavour.
Jumhooree Party's decision to contest the presidential election came after President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih invited JP to continue in the coalition with him for a second term in office.
The party, which has decided to go separately in the elections, has decided to join former president Mohamed Nasheed's faction and the two sides have also started working on a joint manifesto.
