Council to manage Hulhumale municipal services from Monday
The cabinet decided to transfer the municipal services of Hulhumale to the Male City Council from Urbanco.
All municipal services of Hulhumale will be transferred to the Male City Council from Monday, President Mohamed Muizzu announced Sunday.
Announcing the decision taken at Sunday's cabinet meeting, President Muizzu wrote in an X post:

The cabinet decided to transfer the municipal services of Hulhumale to the Male City Council from Urbanco

This change was made under the Decentralisation Act; The change will take effect from Monday

With this change, the transfer of offices, machines, equipment, municipal lands and staff is scheduled to be completed within a month

All staff will receive their current salaries for the next one year
More information on this will be announced soon, the president said.
President Muizzu, who served as the mayor of Male until his inauguration as the president on November 17, had earlier said he would fulfil his electoral pledge to transfer municipal services of Hulhumale to the city council within 100 days.
During a meeting with Hulhumale residents as president-elect, President Muizzu detailed some of the municipal services that will be brought under the council. These include:

All administrative services described in the Decentralisation Act and not yet assigned to the council
