Hisaan decides against seeking parliamentary re-election

Hisaan sits as the parliament's representative on the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) and is also the president of the commission.

Hisaan Hussain, MP for Thulhaadhoo constituency, has decided not to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Hisaan, who sits as a member of parliament on the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) and is also the president of the commission, made the announcement in a post on X on Wednesday.

In the post, Hisaan thanked the people of the constituency for their support and cooperation.

  • She thanked her family, supporters and her team for their support in fulfilling her responsibilities as a member of parliament

  • She said she would remain with the MDP even if she did not contest for parliament

"I have decided not to run for the 2024 parliament. Hopefully, with God's help, I will always continue to serve the people," Hisaan, who is also a lawyer, wrote.

Hisaan first came to prominence as the lawyer of former President Mohamed Nasheed. However, Hisaan chose the side of then President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the internal rifts between Solih and Nasheed factions in MDP.
