No further session was held this during this parliamentary recess period to approve ministers, and the opening of parliament for the year 2024 is scheduled for the 5th of February.
The opening session of the Parliament will be held on the 5th of next month at 9 am.
Parliament Office Communication Director Hassan Ziyau told Atoll Times on Sunday that preparations have started for the session to be held on the 5th of next month.
Every year, the President will deliver the Presidential Statement at the opening session of Parliament. Therefore, it will be the first presidential statement of President Mohammed Muizzu, who took office last November.
According to the Constitution, a presidential statement explains the situation in a country and what the President thinks needs to be done to further improve the situation in the country.
The first session of the parliament's last term will be held next month and the five-year term of the 19th parliament will end on April 28.
Parliament went on leave last December without deciding on the approval of Muizzu’s cabinet. The MDP started collecting signatures for a session during the parliamentary recess, but it was delayed at some point. Therefore, the next minister approval will be held after the opening of parliament in February.
