Police are in talks with the Prosecutor General's Office (PG) to prosecute those arrested, including Environment Ministry State Minister Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem, in connection with the alleged sorcery case.

Police arrested Shamnaz and two others in connection with the case late last month. Among them is Shamnaz's sister Hawwa Sana. The arrest order was appealed by Shamnaz in the High Court, but on 13th of this month, the police released the three without reviewing the remand.

Police said they were released because the investigation did not find any need for them to be remanded in custody any longer.

Police are currently discussing the case with the prosecutor's office, the office said on Tuesday.

Atoll Times has learned that charges against all three, including Shamnaz, are being discussed.

Shamnaz and her ex-husband, President's Office Minister Adam Rameez, have been suspended amid allegations of witchcraft against the President and his family. The two are still suspended.
