President Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday abolished the Maldives Land and Survey Authority, which was under the purview of the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development.

This announcement was made in a directive issued by the President’s Office.

The president made the decision under the powers vested in him by Article 116(a) of the constitution.

Following the abolition of the Maldives Land and Survey Authority, its functions will be transferred to the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development.

The change aims to facilitate a more robust and financially sound mechanism to carry out the tasks previously undertaken by the Maldives Land and Survey Authority.
