A search has been launched for a person after a fire broke out on board 'Agala', a cargo vessel operating between Addu and Male in the early hours of Monday.
In a message to the media Monday morning, MNDF said its Central Area Command was dispatched to the area after the vessel caught fire near M. Thuwar island.

MNDF said that the vessel had a crew of five Maldivians, five Indians and five Bangladeshis.
All of them jumped into the sea after the fire broke out. Fourteen of them were taken to MNDF's harbour craft.
MNDF said an Indian national is missing.
