The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended Civil Court Judge Abdulla Ihsan pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the JSC said the decision was taken in light of the nature of the matter under investigation and information obtained thus far.

According to the commission, the suspension is intended to maintain public confidence in the judiciary while the investigation continues.

The JSC stated that Ihsan has been suspended from performing judicial duties for six days.

The commission did not disclose details regarding the subject of the investigation.

The suspension comes at a time when complaints involving Judge Ihsan and Judge Hafiza Abdulla Sattar have been submitted to the JSC by Civil Court employees.

According to reports, staff members alleged that Ihsan engaged in conduct amounting to harassment in the workplace.

Employees also submitted a separate complaint regarding Judge Hafiza, raising concerns about her interactions with court staff.

It remains unclear whether the suspension is directly linked to the complaint submitted by employees against Ihsan.

The JSC has not provided further information regarding the investigation or the allegations under review.

Concerns relating to staff treatment and the influence of judges in employment-related matters at the Civil Court have been raised on previous occasions.

Court employees have previously submitted complaints to the commission regarding issues within the institution.

The current complaint is not the first involving Judge Hafiza.

In an earlier case, the JSC reviewed allegations against her but later concluded that the matter could not be substantiated after employees declined to provide statements.

The commission has not indicated when a final decision regarding the investigation into Judge Ihsan will be made.
