No shortage in household gas, Maldive Gas says
He acknowledged a temporary shortage of 45 kg gas bottles due to a slight shipment delay.
Maldive Gas Managing Director Abdulla Mohammed confirmed on Wednesday that there is no difficulty in obtaining cooking gas for households despite rumours circulating on social media.
Concerns had been raised regarding potential shortages due to delays in gas shipments.
Addressing these concerns, Abdulla clarified that there is an adequate supply of 2 kg, 5 kg, and 10 kg gas cylinders available for households.
He acknowledged a temporary shortage of 45 kg gas bottles due to a slight delay in the arrival of a shipment but assured that the shipment is expected to arrive by Thursday.
"With the arrival of the shipment, there will be no difficulty in getting 45 kg gas cylinders from noon onwards," Abdulla stated.
He explained that the delay was caused by the supplier, not by financial or logistical issues faced by the company.
Abdulla emphasised that Maldive Gas is not facing any financial difficulties. He noted that the company has achieved a 30% financial growth this year and assured there are no concerns regarding payments or a shortage of foreign currency.
Maldive Gas is sourcing its gas supply through an open bidding process, with the current shipment being imported from a Dubai-based supplier.
