The Development Bank of Maldives (DBM) said on Sunday that its former Managing Director and CEO, Noel Grega Patterson-Jones, who resigned in March, was paid his full salary and allowances until his resignation.
The statement was issued following media reports last week that Patterson-Jones had filed a complaint with the Employment Tribunal alleging non-payment of salary and benefits.
According to DBM, Patterson-Jones submitted his resignation in March and has not participated in any bank-related activities since. The bank also noted that he left the Maldives shortly before submitting his resignation.
Patterson-Jones filed the complaint with the Employment Tribunal last month. However, the case was dismissed on the 7th of this month on the grounds that he was unable to speak Dhivehi.
In its statement, DBM said it does not believe Patterson-Jones resigned due to any salary-related issues. The bank confirmed that a legal team is handling the case brought by Patterson-Jones and added that it would continue to follow legal procedures in addressing the matter.
DBM also noted that the process of appointing a new CEO and Managing Director is ongoing in coordination with the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB).
