The Maldives and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) have held discussions on strengthening bilateral development cooperation.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Minister of Finance Mohamed Shafeeq and ADFD Director General Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi at the Ministry of Finance on Sunday.
According to an X post by the ministry, the meeting focused on ways to enhance development ties between the Maldives and the ADFD.
The ADFD most recently extended support to the Maldives through a US$40 million concessional loan in December 2024 to assist with the completion of the Velana International Airport (VIA) development project.
This followed a previous concessional loan of US$50 million provided by the fund in 2017 for the same project.
