Govt signs 206 infrastructure project contracts with private firms
The agreements were signed with 53 private companies during a ceremony held at Barcelo Nasandhura Malé Hotel.
The government on Thursday signed 206 agreements with private companies to implement infrastructure development projects across nine sectors.
The agreements were signed with 53 private companies during a ceremony held at Barcelo Nasandhura Malé Hotel.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the projects will be carried out under contractor-financed arrangements. Details regarding the total cost of the projects have not yet been disclosed.
The projects include:

30 in the health sector

39 in homeland security

24 environmental projects
-
2 fisheries projects
-
52 sports-related projects

13 housing and infrastructure projects

14 religious projects

1 youth-related project
Speaking at the ceremony, Finance Minister Moosa Zameer said the companies selected for the projects were capable of carrying out the work. He added that the projects were designed to address the needs of communities and local councils.
Zameer said the government’s initiative was part of a broader effort to strengthen and revive small and medium enterprises in the Maldives.
