MMA suspends FIU chief Ismail Sajid
Sajid, a former member of the Tax Appeal Tribunal, was appointed head of the FIU in early August. His appointment followed the dismissal of Abdulla Ashraf.

The Maldives Monetary Authority has suspended Ismail Sajid, the head of its Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
Sajid confirmed to Mihaaru that he has been suspended from his post since last Tuesday. He did not provide further details regarding the decision.
The MMA has not issued an official statement on the suspension.
Sajid, a former member of the Tax Appeal Tribunal, was appointed head of the FIU in early August. His appointment followed the dismissal of Abdulla Ashraf.
Ashraf was removed from the post a day after a report allegedly prepared by the FIU was circulated on social media. The report concerned transactions over the past two years that were said to have benefited companies linked to Ibrahim Shujau, the Member of Parliament for Baarah.
Shujau has denied the allegations. Police have said the matter is under investigation.
