The Ministry of Economic Affairs said on Tuesday that it is establishing dedicated storage facilities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The initiative follows a decision by Mohamed Muizzu to provide special incentives to SMEs over the next two years.
In a statement, the ministry said the President met SME representatives on the 17th of this month, where business owners raised concerns about the lack of storage facilities in Malé, HDh. Kulhudhuffushi, and Addu City. The ministry said further details on the facilities will be announced in due course.
The ministry also said Maldives Ports Limited will take steps to strengthen vehicle capacity in operational areas to speed up cargo clearance.
In addition, the ministry said guesthouses accommodating Maldivian nationals and work permit holders have now been registered, and issues related to quota approvals have been resolved.
