The head of the Financial Investigation Unit (FIU) of the Maldives Monetary Authority, Ismail Sajid, has been dismissed from his post.
Sajid had been suspended on 28 December following allegations of sexual harassment.
Sources familiar with the matter said a committee established by the Maldives Monetary Authority to investigate the allegations decided on Thursday to remove him from the position.
Prior to his appointment at the central bank, Sajid served as a member of the Tax Appeal Tribunal. He was appointed head of the FIU in early August.
Sajid assumed the role following the dismissal of Abdulla Ashraf.
