Nominations for the post of chairperson of the board of the Pension Office opened on Monday.
The vacancy follows the resignation of the board’s chairperson, Ahmed Inaz, on Sunday. Inaz said his decision to resign was based on concerns that the government’s MVR 2.4 billion bond issuance, financed through the Maldives Monetary Authority, would have negative implications for the economy.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Pension Office said applications for the post will close at 2:00 pm on Monday, 16 of this month.
According to the announcement, applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree in business, economics or law and have experience in the pension or investment sector.
The Pension Office said a selection committee will shortlist three candidates from among the applicants. The shortlisted candidates will then be assessed by the Capital Market Development Authority to verify eligibility.
The final appointment will be made by President Mohamed Muizzu.
