Salaries of employees of the Maldives Correctional Service and Maldives Customs Service have been revised with effect from the 1st of this month.

The change applies to all permanent employees and officers of both institutions.

According to authorities, the revision has been implemented in line with the National Pay Framework.

The adjustment marks the first change in salaries for correctional service employees in about 11 years. The last salary revision for correctional staff was implemented in 2015.

Concerns over pay levels for correctional service employees have been raised on several occasions.

The government has also revised salaries of civil service employees and staff of other state institutions since November.

The state budget for this year includes MVR 17 billion allocated for salaries and allowances.
