Former National Integrity Commission (NIC) Chairman Yusuf Maniu Mohammed has been appointed as the Commissioner General of Customs.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu handed over the appointment letter to Maniu at the President’s Office on Monday.
Before handing over the letter of appointment to Maniu, he took the oath of office. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir. The post is at the level of State Minister.
Maniu was appointed as the NIC President in October 2015 by the government of former President Abdullah Yameen. Maniu was removed from the post in November 2017 after he alleged that the police were not cooperating with the commission's investigations.
In addition to Maniu, President Muizzu also appointed Hassan Zareer as the Commissioner of Prisons.
