President appoints climate envoy, 11 more state ministers

With the new appointments on Wednesday, the total number of state ministers in the government is 36.

President Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday appointed a Special Envoy for Climate Change and 11 State Ministers for eight ministries.

Ali Shareef, Ma. Nylonge/Male, was appointed as the Special Envoy for Climate Change at a ceremony held at the President's Office on Wednesday. 

Most of the state ministers appointed on Wednesday were appointed to the Higher Education Ministry.

Ministry of Homeland

  • Lubna Mohammed Zahir, H. Nevevilla/Male

Ministry of Economic Affairs

  • Mohammed Thorig Ahmed, Nerrulhu, Dhandimagu/Gn. Fuvahmulah

Ministry of Fisheries

  • Dr Amzath Ahmed, Kinara/G.Dh. Madaveli

LGA Ministry

  • Mohammed Ibrahim, H. Noomuthy/Male

Ministry of Youth

  • Ahmed Munaz, H. Kisthi/Male

Ministry of Higher Education

  • Ahmed Shafeeu, Vaijeheyge/H.A. Ihavandhoo

  • Fathimath Mohammed, G. Greenbeans/Male

  • Dr Abdul Raheem Hassan, Lilyge/Th. Hirilandhoo

  • Maryam Fizana Rasheed, M. Zeyvaru/Male

Ministry of Dhvehi Language, Culture and Heritage

  • Mohammed Shahruzziad, Bluehaven/S. Maradhoo-Feydhoo

Ministry of Sports

  • Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim, H. Noomuthy/Male

President Muizzu had also appointed 25 state ministers to 12 ministries on Tuesday. With the new appointments on Wednesday, the total number of state ministers in the government is 36.
