Maldives’ first marine tech training programme held in Ukulhas

The first Marine Tech Training Programme to be held in the Maldives has concluded at the Ukulhas Convention Centre in Alif Alif Atoll.

The three-day programme, held from Saturday to Monday, brought together vessel owners, marine professionals, technology providers and brands operating in the marine sector.

The programme was organised by OceanX Marine, Marine Vibe and Ukulhas Council under the leadership of Captain Anwar. It included practical training and live demonstrations of technology and equipment used in marine operations.

Training focused on technologies and skills aimed at improving the safety, efficiency and reliability of marine operations. Areas covered included echo sounders, bird radar, outboard engines, navigation systems and other marine electronics.

The programme was targeted at vessel owners and operators, commercial fishing businesses, charter and dive operators, marine equipment suppliers and others working in the boating and fisheries sectors.

Training sessions were conducted by Adam King, Senior Product Manager at Simrad, and Captain Anwar, a Simrad-licensed technician with experience in the Maldives fisheries and marine sectors.

“The main purpose of this training is to provide those working directly at sea with access to modern technology and practical knowledge,” Anwar said.

“This is an opportunity for people working in the Maldives marine sector to learn new skills, experience modern technology and build connections with brands that are shaping the future of the industry.”

Dhivehi Insurance served as the title sponsor of the programme.

Simrad, OceanX, Ukulhas Council, Marine Vibe, PrintLab, Ink'd and Coral Transfer also supported the event.
