The government has reshuffled the Privatisation and Corporatization Board (PCB) without including Hassan Mughni, who was appointed as a member less than a week ago.

Mughni, who had served as the STELCO managing director in the previous government, was appointed to the PCB on Thursday. However, his name was not mentioned when the details of the reconstituted were announced on Tuesday.

However, the news of Mughni's appointment to the PCB is still available on the President’s Office website.

The PCB posted on X on Tuesday, listing the names of the seven members appointed to the board and their respective fields. The information is also available on the PCB website, and none of which contains Mughni's name.

Neither the PCB nor the President’s Office could be reached for comment on Mughni's removal less than a week after his appointment.

PCB chairman Hamdi Ageel said he was not aware of the information. Mughni could not be reached for comment as he did not answer the phone.

The PCB has been restructured and the board now includes:

  • Hamdi Ageel - President

  • Mohamed Firash - Vice-President

  • Ahmed Mushthaq - Accounting and Finance

  • Leena Abdul Jaleel - Banking

  • Moosa Fathhee Adam - Business Administration

  • Hassan Zareez - Economics

  • Ahmed Nashath - Legal

According to the PCB Act, the board of the agency consists of seven members appointed by the president. The appointments to the board must be approved by the parliament.

This is the third person to be dismissed within a short period of time after being appointed by the government. Two people were fired in this manner last week:

  • Munim Anees, who was appointed as minister of state for tourism; He was sacked last Thursday, the third day after his appointment

  • Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, who was appointed as minister of state for foreign affairs; He was dismissed on the fourth day of his appointment
