The number of tourists arriving in the Maldives daily has increased significantly ahead of the peak tourist season, with the government's annual target of 1.6 million for this year expected to exceed.
According to the tourism ministry, the number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year has reached 1.3 million as of Wednesday. According to the data:

The number of daily tourist arrivals increased to 5,200 on average

Ministry expects the daily arrivals number to go up to 6,000

If that happens, by 12 or 15 December the Maldives will meet the tourism target set for this year

That's 1.6 million tourists
According to the ministry, while an average of 6,000 tourists are expected to arrive in the Maldives every day, 1.7 million tourists are expected to have arrived by the end of this year. That is 113,376 more tourists than the target.

While the tourism ministry has set a target of 2 million tourists for the next fiscal year, finance ministry data showed that the highest number of arrivals next year will be 1.9 million.
