The one millionth tourist to visit Maldives this year has been received with a warm welcome.
The one millionth tourist to visit Maldives this year is a Thai citizen named Sutapa Amornvivat. She is founding CEO of Abacus digital, a mathematician and economist who sits on several regulatory and academic boards of directors in Thailand.
She came to the Maldives from Singapore with her husband and two children. This is her second visit to Maldives.
The MMPRC and the Ministry of Tourism gave a warm welcome to Sutapa at the Velana International Airport (VIA) in the tradition they welcome the one millionth tourist every year.
She was welcomed at the VIA by Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree and senior officials of various relevant agencies.
After welcoming her with traditional offerings and flair, she was presented with various gifts by the Ministry of Tourism, MMPRC, Maldives Customs, Immigration, MATATO and TMA.
Maldives reached one million tourists this year, three weeks earlier than last year. The number of tourists reached one million on July 16 last year.
