Maldives launches intl maritime services gate in north
The bunkering service is provided by the state-owned STO in partnership with Vitol, the world's largest private energy company.
The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) gate has been launched to provide maritime services to the north of the country.
ISPS services were inaugurated on Wednesday by Justice Retired Idhurees Adam who has served the state for more than 50 years.
The offshore bunkering services in the north are set to be launched and the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) is preparing to provide pilotage services, docking services and crew replacement services for the bunkering vessels, as well as water supply and waste disposal services.
The bunkering service is provided by the state-owned STO in partnership with Vitol, the world's largest private energy company.
MPL has set up a special office in Ha. Uligam to provide ISPS services.
The area where Ihavandhippolhu is the northernmost part of the country is a major sea voyage.
The area, which is connected to major shipping routes, is the most suitable for the development of maritime services, MPL said.

MPL said the company will provide other services along with the bunkering in accordance with the laws and regulations of Maldives to meet international standards.
Maldives Economic Gateway Project will develop a transshipment port and an on show bunkering facility in Ihavandhippolhu in the future.
