Maldives revenue increases by 5.6%

Tax revenue amounted to MVR 11.6 billion and made up 77.8 per cent of the total revenue collected so far in 2025.

The state budget recorded MVR 14.9 billion in revenue and grants as of 22 May 2025, reflecting a 5.6 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Finance's Weekly Fiscal Development Report.

Tax revenue amounted to MVR 11.6 billion and made up 77.8 per cent of the total revenue collected so far in 2025.

The report also shows that 37.3 per cent of the total estimated revenue and grants for the year has been received by the state as of 22 May. In contrast, 28.0 per cent of the total budgeted expenditure has been recorded during the same period.

State expenditure totalled MVR 13.7 billion, a 17.9 per cent decline compared to the same period in 2024. Recurrent expenditure decreased by 3.8 per cent, while capital expenditure declined by 64.2 per cent.
