Dr Mohamed Ibrahim has been appointed Managing Director of the Maldives Fisheries and Ocean Resources Marketing and Promotion Corporation (MFOMPC).
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) confirmed the appointment on Sunday, adding that Dr Ibrahim will also serve as a board member.
MFOMPC was formed in February 2024 to promote the Maldivian fisheries industry. Its mandate includes increasing the profitability of fisheries products such as aquaculture, mariculture, and other marine resources. The corporation also seeks to establish a national brand for Maldivian products and market them domestically and internationally as premium goods.
Former Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) Chairman Ahmed Sharif was appointed Chairman of MFOMPC’s Board in December 2024. The company’s first Managing Director, Ahmed Zareer, resigned earlier this year to take up the post of Secretary General at the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
According to the PCB’s SOE Gateway, the MFOMPC board currently includes the Chairman, Managing Director, and four directors: Munshida Ibrahim, Ahmed Shifaz, Ahmed Yameen, and Adam Manik.
