The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) collected MVR 2.12 billion in August, exceeding projections by 3 per cent.
According to MIRA’s monthly report, revenue for the period was 6.9 per cent higher than in August last year. Collections included USD 89 million.
The increase was attributed to higher receipts from the tourism and green taxes, along with the settlement of previously unpaid taxes.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) remained the largest contributor, generating MVR 1.1 billion, or 54.7 per cent of the total revenue.
Other key sources were:

Income tax: 11.4 per cent of total revenue

Green tax: MVR 240 million, or 9 per cent

Airport development fee: MVR 165 million, or 7.8 per cent

Departure tax: MVR 162 million, or 7.7 per cent
