Ooredoo Fun Run draws over 6,000 participants
Ooredoo Fun Run continues to attract a growing number of participants each year.
Hulhumale witnessed an enthusiastic turnout for the Ooredoo Fun Run on Friday, as over 6,000 participants joined the event despite heavy rainfall. The race, which began at 4:30 pm, was initially met with sunny weather before transitioning into rain, adding a unique element to the annual event.
Participants expressed excitement over the rainy conditions. “Running in the rain is a different experience,” said one female finisher. “It’s very fun and exciting.”
The 5-kilometre race featured various activities at different stations, including colouring, foam, and water features. Unlike competitive races, the Fun Run allows participants to walk, jog, run, or dance their way to the finish line, creating an inclusive and relaxed atmosphere for runners of all ages and fitness levels.
Hussain Niaz, Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo, highlighted the event’s family-oriented focus.
“Ooredoo’s aim is to provide families with a happy and healthy time. We are delighted that so many people have come to enjoy this experience,” Niaz said.
The event has become a significant recreational activity in Hulhumale, with families, beginners, and regular runners alike embracing the opportunity to engage in a joyful and active experience.
Participants praised the event for fostering a sense of community and fun. One runner noted, “It’s really nice to be able to run with the kids like this. The kids are very happy too. I don’t even know how I managed to finish the five kilometres—it felt easy because it was so fun.”
